The Canadian Grapevine Certification Network (CGCN) is a national not-for-profit corporation incorporated February 13th 2017. The objective of the CGCN is to advance the Canadian grape and wine industry with a sustainable supply of certified propogative grapevine material. Founding members of the CGCN are well established provincial industry associations:
- British Columbia Wine Grape Council (BCWGC)
- Grape Growers of Ontario (GGO)
- Quebec Wine Council (CVQ)
- Grape Growers Association of Nova Scotia (GGANS)
On July 4th, 2018 the Honourable Lawrence MacAulay, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) announced $8.4 million in funding for the Canadian Grapevine Certification Network (CGCN) to fund their Agri-Science Program cluster “Fostering Sustainable Growth of the Canadian Grape and Wine sector”. Over the next five years this funding will be used for Canadian Grape and Wine research in 23 activities across all four of Canada’s grape growing provinces.
